when in Trash, no dedicated top banner

Ubuntu 22.10 here.

When in Trash, Nautilus no longer displays a top banner in main window offering to empty or restore.

Are you sure the total absence of « banner / bar » is expected ?

It's a usability regression.

On https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/2096#note_1525051 the « banner / bar » is still there ( it's indeed older than 22.10 release. )

yes, see https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/merge_requests/943 with screenshots, they only display it when autoclean is activated now, empty and restore actions are easy enough to access, you also don't have a bar for copy/paste/etc and it's not blocking user to find those actions

Well now it's one or two click further away ( sub-menu in header bar or right click in side-panel. ) so it's not an improvement.

The [ empty button ] in banner while looking at what's inside the trash was faster.

you also don't have a bar for copy/paste/etc

Because it's not the same context / purpose.
Here is the trash folder when one might expect a quick access to the special features of such a special folder : [ empty | restore ]
