gnome-display-properties crashed with SIGSEGV

Ubuntu 8.04a6, all updates applied (Mar 7, 08).
After a fresh restart, the first application I attempted to load was Prefs/Screen Resolution. It crashes. Subsequent attempts to launch it also fail.
