Bug Description

1. When I have a scp connection open and transmitting, pretty much all other packets are lost. Ctrl-z to pause the scp, and suddenly the pings get through. fg to restore it, and they stop again.

2. I get very poor speeds. From kernel.org, I get 23K/s (after upgrading to the latest firmware). On my other laptop -- same wireless connection to the same cable modem, two feet away. I get about 450K/s. On an scp from the other laptop, I get 35K/s.

The wired connection works just fine.

My model is FL92, and my kernel is
Linux ubuntu 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 02:46:46 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I should specify that numbers 1 and 2 are independent -- that is, I get poor speeds when there is no scp connection at all.

It appears that the problem is at least in part massive packet loss. Pinging the router, I get 13% packet loss, and a mean ping time of 163 seconds (median probably around 40). From the good laptop, 0% packet loss (over 250 pings!), mean ping 3.75 seconds.

I get the same thing with the most recent iwlwifi (1.2.26, via compat-wireless-2.6).

This problem has been relegated to technical support, and the machine has been shipped back for replacement of the wireless card and testing.
