Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When i activate the "Select windows when the mouse moves over them" function, compiz doesn't activate the window which is under my mousepointer automatically anymore. Steps to reproduce

1) Start gnome-window-properties
2) Activate "Select windows when the mouse moves over them"
3) Hover with the mouse over different windows, they don't get selected

When i disable the desktop effects (or in other words, when i use metacity as window manager) this function works, that's why i think this bug is related to compiz. I'm running a up to date hardy here with enabled desktop effects.

Works fine here.

In gconf-editor what are the values of /apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/click_to_focus and /apps/metacity/general/focus_mode?

Sounds like you're either not using the gconf compiz backend or have integration disabled. Install compizconfig-settings-manager, to go System->Preferences->Advanced Desktop Effects Settings, click on Preferences, and tell me what it says for Backend and Integration.

It should be "GConf Configuration Backend" and "Enable integration into the desktop environment" should be ticked.

You are right. My settings were set to "Flat-File configuration backend". I set them to gconf and the selection of windows works again. I set the bug to invalid.
