Bug Description

When copying files from one place of the hard disk to another, or from the local network, the filenames and the folder names are not displayed correctly. I have Ubuntu Hardy Alpha 5 upgraded from Gutsy, and it's in Spanish.
The error can be seen in the attached image:

No, I have noticed that it only happens when I copy files that exist in a reiserfs partition. when I copy files from ntfs / fat / ext3 partitions It displays the name correctly. It seems more like an encoding problem

It also happens when transferring something from the internet to the disk (for example, dragging a link from firefox to the desktop)

For me, It happens every time a copy/move one file: in different partitions, in the same partition and from a sftp source. All partitions have an ext3 filesystem.

could you try the update from "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-langpack/ hardy main" and comment on whether those fix your issue?

Sebastien,
I updated from "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-langpack/ubuntu hardy main" (you forget ubuntu) and it was fixed for me.

Thanks

I have tried it (the latest translation package), but no luck: still have the error, exactly the same.

I can confirm the bug, it's not fixed, at least, with latest snapshots of the translations (Spanish) on the mirror.

Néstor,
Do you try it after a restart? I have to restart the computer to see that it is fixed (for me).
