Bug Description

Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS: sudo apt install libkrb5-dev

Installation fails with this message:

dpkg-deb: error: paste subprocess was killed by signal (Broken pipe)

I had tried to install this package as a dependency of building Wine from source:

configure: libkrb5 32-bit/64-bit development files not found (or too old), Kerberos won't be supported.

I think we're going to need more output that than to help you debug this.

Changed in krb5 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Also this appears to be hand-transcribed from the actual error message (there is no such thing as a "paste subprocess"). Please copy and paste error messages to avoid introducing such mistakes.

What is normally useful here is to attach /var/log/apt/term.log from the affected system.

Thank you both for helping me to create a more detailed report of the issue. I was unable to duplicate the error using a fresh installation of Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS; i.e., using a fresh install of the OS, `sudo apt install libkrb5-dev` succeeded without any issue. Using a current installation with lots of other stuff, however, still refuses to install. The output from the terminal and also from `/var/log/apt/term.log` combined is only about 77 lines, so I'm just pasting the combined output here:
