Bug Description

When I am using KDE 4.0.2, a SCIM icon comes up automatically by the clock. If I rightclick it and choose to exit it, it comes right back. I cannot get it to stay gone.

What's worse, while it's loaded if I accidentally press SHIFT+SPACEBAR, it changes my keyboard language. Due to the awkward way I type, I do this frequently and it changes my language repeatedly on accident and it's driving me nuts.

Not only that, I believe it's a Gnome/GTK app. Is it even supposed to be loading at startup under KDE 4?

The "come back when exit" part has been reported and discussed in bug #199030.

Thanks for reporting. I'm marking this as a duplicate of bug #199030, since as I understand, the symptom experienced is part of the same underlying problem: that SCIM shouldn't be on by default for (non-European) languages for which it's not needed.
