debconf answers during installation are not saved/used

Bug Description
Dear Maintainers,
During installation of opensmtpd 6.8.0p2-4build1 on Ubuntu 22.04, debconf asks questions to the user, but:
- answers are not stored into debconf database, as shown by `debconf-show opensmtpd`
- answers are not applied to opensmtpd’s configuration (no creation of /etc/mailname, no modification of /etc/aliases)
Note that I just tried on a Debian testing (opensmtpd 6.8.0p2-4+b2), and can confirm that this version is also affected. I just reported it, so I do not have the issue URL yet.
