Bug Description

A lot of thinkpad users have problems with some sort of high pitch noise (see http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_high_pitch_noises ). There is a patch and some ongoing discussion about that noise in general at: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.power-management.general/10039/focus=10088

Perhaps this patch should be applied to ubuntus current kernel to avoid that noise.

Hi nclm,

I've had a look at the discussion on http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.power-management.general/10039/focus=10088 and concluded that the workaround(s) are still in a state of flux at the moment and probably need time to settle in before I apply the necessary patch, hence I won't be adding them to Hardy so late in the Alpha stage.
