Bug Description

Binary package hint: fusesmb

Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy, FuseSMB version 0.8.6-1

After installation from Ubuntu Gutsy repositories the command 'sudo chown -R <user> ~/.smb' is necessary to make FuseSMB scan the network correctly without Root permissions. Afterwards the file ~/.smb/fusesmb.cache' is updated regularly.

The command 'sudo fusesmb <mountpoint>' makes Root become the owner of the file '~/.smb/fusesmb.cache' again. The file is emptied, but no updating will be done any more.

To make FuesSMB work again, it is necessary to enter 'chown <user> ~/.smb/fusesmb.cache' first, otherwise no updating will be done any more. I could not run FuseSMB with 'sudo' as described in the wiki page http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/FUSE/FuseSMB

I forgot to say that it is the command 'sudo fusesmb <mountpoint> -o allow_other' that disturbs the files in ~/.smb; without '-o allow_other' there is nothing changed at the file '~/.smb/fusesmb.cache', and FuseSMB continues to work.
The option 'user_allow_other' is set in /etc/fuse.conf.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
