Bug Description

SRU Justification

[Impact]

Microsoft has asked to replace hyperv_fb with hyperv_drm in linux-modules-azure.

[Test Plan]

Extract linux-modules and ensure hyperv_drm.ko exists and hyperv_fb.ko does not.

[Where things could go wrong]

According to Microsoft, hyperv_drm is a direct replacement for hyperv_fb, yet there could be cases where hyperv_fb is being explicitly installed by customized images.

This bug is awaiting verification that the linux-azure/5.15.0-1020.25 kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-jammy' to 'verification-done-jammy'. If the problem still exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-jammy' to 'verification-failed-jammy'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

This caused trouble for me, as my custom images had `video=hyperv_fb:...` cmdline config. I had to change it to `video=Virtual-1:...` instead. This should be documented somewhere. Googling "hyper-v linux resolution", most (for me, all first page) results mention `video=hyperv_fb` kernel parameter...

ps: I'm using linux-azure kernel, in which this change is already implemented: https://git.launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux-azure/+git/jammy/commit/?id=00c39de4ab335e7e3667db84f85c860341d62e3e

Ubuntu 22.10 (Kinetic Kudu) has reached end of life, so this bug will not be fixed for that specific release.
