Kmail had crashed again, obviously, this time when applying the not-a-spam filter (default one).

What version of Kubuntu are you currently running?
What version of KDE/Kmail?
If you can reliably induce the crash could you please install the package kdepim-dbg and get a backtrace for the crash. This will fill in all the parts that say 'no debugging symbols found' in the current backtrace
