Bug Description

I created the initial Xubuntu 22.04.1 virtual machine in GNOME Boxes. To install alongside (http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/437/builds/254989/testcases/1301/results) that original install, I loaded the same VM in virt-manager and performed the install. I left everything as default and Xubuntu reportedly installed successfully.

Upon reboot, Xubuntu at first did not boot fully, only showing a black screen and a busy cursor. I rebooted again, and this time I received a kernel panic. The kernel panic persists with multiple reboots.

The originally installed Xubuntu 22.04.1 still boots, the issue only seems present with the newly installed one.

20 GB disk, 4 GB memory.

I'll attempt to reproduce in a separate VM.

Was it working correctly with the initial 22.04 release images? Can someone check?

I tested for this, as can be seen here

On actual hardware
- hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)

full disk install; followed by auto-resize install.

I did NOT encounter this issue at all.
