Hi Shirley,
This may look like a Nova bug.
Would you please add more information about this error?

- It looks like the volume is attached to a Nova instance. Are you exporting the attachments or updating them? Could you share the steps to reproduce the problem?
- What version of Cinder are you using?
- Which backend are you using?

I will mention this bug in tomorrow's Cinder bug meeting.
