Bug Description

This bug report is filed only so I can close the iso.qa.ubuntu.com page as failure.

When it's working again; I'll repeat the install (another day!) and can file a VALID bug report if install fails again... We've got weeks before 20.04.5 still, thus it's not high priority for me (yet).

Lubuntu jammy install to
- hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)

testcase: install using existing partition

sda2 - re-use for / (no format)
sda1 - re-use for /boot/EFI (no format)
other partitions ignored

I've not found out why the install failed, but it wasn't a clean install; so I'm still not convinced the failure was as a result of some change(s) I've made in hopes of answering support queries (that had me do something stupid/unusual to the system prior to install...)

I do use the system so it was working.. just isn't (Lubuntu) post install... Other systems (dual boot box) are good; Fedora (whatever latest is), OpenSuSE tumbleweed good.

Lubuntu boots but no SDDM, so of course no login..

I can use terminal; and system so far looks okay (I'd like to perform checks still when GUI is working as I didn't find all of what I expected)...

This report will be marked INCOMPLETE as I've not found smoking gun, and its very probable to be caused by prior strange-edits-as-consequence-of-support-queries.. (or I made a mistake; I expected a good install!)

Same details...

install to hp 8200; jammy daily, re-use sda2 (/) & sda1 (esp)

calamares just CLOSED without any error message...

`ubuntu-bug /var/crash/..` & calamares bug report filed.. but no requirement to login to start crash; thus existing report was searched for & this report used for iso.qa.ubuntu.com..

Comment: I'm not worried about this install type though; I performed an install yesterday (or the day before if memory incorrect) using a different box (d780) without issue... in fact have done it twice successfully last ~4-5 days.. At worst it's something specific on this box creating an issue.

later reboot & repeat install to hp 8200, re-use sda1 (ESP) & sda2 (/)

this time calamares started with `sudo -E calamares -d`

Error message appeared in box this time, on clicking OK calamares closed.

---
The package manager could not make changes to the installed system. The command <pre>apt-get --purge -q -y autoremove</pre> returned error code 1.
---

I'm only worried when this type of install FAILS on a clean (& known) system, this install is really 'unknown' to me, was 23.04 & has moved around quite a bit, thus is UNKNOWN
