A monitor going blank and then coming back almost always means that a stable signal (enough bandwidth) can't be maintained.

You should start by trying to replace the DisplayPort cable, or at least re-plugging the one you have. If that doesn't solve it then to at least prove the theory please try using 1920x1080 for a little while.

I bought a new cable a while back, the same problem as with the old cable. I'm using 4k Monitor so do you mean I should switch to HD resolution?

I switched to HD resolution, I will test it in the next few days (7 days or so).

I think you are right, under HD resolution it works flawless. How can I fix it?

Daniel van Vugt (vanvugt) wrote :

I only know how to fix this on the Intel graphics driver ("max bpc" setting). I can't yet find a setting documented for Nvidia that would fix it...

So my only suggestion is to replug both ends of the cable or try yet another cable. 4K at 60Hz should be easy to maintain with a good DP1.2 cable, or any DP1.4 cable.

This might be it:

i turned on the Dac8Bit option, problem is the same, more ideas how fix it?

ok I brought a new cable, will be the second new DisplayPort cable. The first one is from version 1.2 and the newly brought cable is from version 1.4

still the same problem as before

I'm running out of affordable ideas... It's possible the problem is at either end of the cable -- in the monitor or the graphics card :(

I run the nvidia-bug-report.sh, can you see something in the logs?

see appendix, which contains a log report of the Nvidia graphic card.

is that the cause of it, maybe?

I don't think modeset ownership is a problem during normal usage, only when changing VTs or on startup. So probably not related, but maybe.
