Page renders correctly in my firefox 3 beta 3. I am using an up-to-date installation of hardy alpha 5.

Daniel: What version of ubuntu / firefox are you using?

I can confirm this bug. Probably it's related to bug #182038. While it's title is "black rectangle" something, it seems that it causes many different symptoms (like this).

hello again,

i first noticed the issue/bug in firefox 3, so i assumed it was
therewith related

later on i tried to acces the same page on epiphany browser, with the
same result, so... i'm not sure what exactly causes the problem

but as you can see in the screenshot, it was pretty messy.

Daniel, first: thanks for the additional info.

As Samuel suggests, it could be the same bug as Bug #182038. This bug is about graphics showing as a black rectangle.

To see if it is the same bug, could you re-test again? Is the background of the webpage (from your screenshot) sometimes also just black? Does it not "update", such that if you move the window, it shows the content that has been there before on the screen?
Could you also try the following webpage and describe what you see? (black rectangles or other graphic errors?
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080111-kde-4-0-rough-but-ready-for-action.html

Is it showing correctly with epiphany (maybe therefore you have to install the package epiphany-browser)?

Also: Are you using the open-source nv-driver? If so, could you install the proprietary nvidia-driver and re-test?

Thanks in advance for all your effort!

Hi,

seems like I have the same problem here. I updated yesterday from gutsy to hardy. I'm using 3.0~b3+nobinonly-0ubuntu4, using a radeon Mobility 9700 (r300) with radeon driver. One more problematic website is www.hahaha.de - screenshot attached.

no

2. Does it not "update", such that if you move the window, it shows the
content that has been there before on the screen?

i can basically scroll/navigate through it, it's just that it's unreadable

3. the arstechnica link is ok, content is displayed just fine in firefox 3

4. i use a turion64 processor and the graphic card is an ati xradeon 1100

(see attach.)

5. the webpage http://lutheranica.blogspot.com/ and the one nikolaus talked
about hahaha.de are displayed properly in seamonkey, galeon and dillo

6. in the attach you find another screenshot with the return i get in
terminal when running epiphany (seems like the issue onlu turns up in
firefox 3 and epiphany browser)

Thanks again for the info, Daniel.
So it appears that is is not the same as Bug #182038.
Probably it's related to the gecko-engine (As both firefox and epiphany use it).
Maybe someone more experienced with the gecko-engine can have a look at this?

i don't think it has anything to do with gecko, since galeon and
seamonkey also use it

yes, someone more crafty should have a look at it :)

I can't say if it's related or not, but in addition to the here specified "rendering problem", I also get the black images as reported in Bug #182038.
[Somehow I'm not really satisfied with ff 3.0 - at least the beta as shipped now]
