Bug Description

Used Ubunutu 22.04 with the current 5.15.x Kernel, cross tested with Linux Mint and 5.14.x Kernel.

I have a Lenovo 300e 2nd Gen with an ELAN Touchscreen AND Touchpad with AMD processor.

The Touchscreen is working flawlessly.
The TouchPAD is dead.

According to the Windows driver:
%ELANHIDDeviceDesc% = ETD_HID_PTP_WIN10_Group2_Inst, HID\VEN_ELAN&DEV_0660&Col01 ; ClickPad for Capela 14e Windows
%ELANHIDDeviceDesc% = ETD_HID_PTP_WIN10_Group1_Inst, HID\VEN_ELAN&DEV_0661&Col01 ; ClickPad for Windows 100e/300e
%ELANHIDDeviceDesc% = ETD_HID_PTP_WIN10_Group3_Inst, HID\VEN_ELAN&DEV_066C&Col01 ; ClickPad for 100e/300e AMD Pollock
%ELANHIDDeviceDesc% = ETD_HID_PTP_WIN10_Group1_Inst, HID\VEN_ELAN&DEV_066E&Col01 ; ClickPad for 100W&300W Gen3 AMD Pollock
%ELANHIDDeviceDesc% = ETD_HID_PTP_WIN10_Group1_Inst, HID\VEN_ELAN&DEV_066F&Col01 ; ClickPad for 300W Gen3 Intel JasperLake

....it is an ELAN066C

According to similar solutions i tried to block several built in kernel modules, without success.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1976556/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Scoured the web for hours thinking this was such a simple fix, someone certainly has it nailed by now. Haha, wrong!

Tried every 'fix' out there; none work on this model, 82GK. Help needed!

Thanks, @mdeslaur. At least there's a workaround for now (or so it appears).

After the last post by Hans de Goede in that thread, I was hopeful there would be a fix forthcoming (still broken as of LMDE 6.1.76-1). But that was dated 5+ months ago so not sure when, or if this will get done.

But no hurry on my part. Been using a mouse and like it batter anyway lol.
