Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.24

Hi,
I have a HP G7000 with a Broadcom wlan device:
$ lspci | grep Broadcom
01:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI (rev 02)

# lshw -C Network
  *-network
       description: Network controller
       product: BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI
       vendor: Broadcom Corporation
       physical id: 0
       bus info: pci@0000:01:00.0
       version: 02
       width: 64 bits
       clock: 33MHz
       capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list
       configuration: driver=b43-pci-bridge latency=0 module=ssb

 linux-image-2.6.24-10-generic: Version: 2.6.24-10.16

Google tells me that rev 01 should work, but rev02 is only supported by Kernel 2.6.25.

But Larry Finger made a Patch for 2.6.24, read more here:
http://<email address hidden>/msg05723.html

Patch: http://linuxwireless.org/download/b43/patch_2.6.24_for_4311_2

It would be very great if you can apply this patch in hardy, to get another wlan device working.

I saw some other bug reports on launchpad, which maybe could be also addressed by this patch.

cheers,
Manuel

I have read this in the changelog of the new kernel that is going to be pushed into hardy:

linux (2.6.24-11.17) hardy; urgency=low

(...)

  * BCM4311 Revision 2 fix
    - LP: #184600

So maybe it will work with this kernel.

Cheers.

By the way I imagine that this bug is the same than:

Cheers.
