Gnome shell on wayland does not wake after screen blank

Bug Description
Reproduction steps
Go to Power settings
Set screen blank to something like 1 minute
Wait a minute
The screen turns of.
Press a key to try and wake the screen
What is expected?
Screen turns on and shows login prompt
What happens?
Screen remains off. Does not happen in Xorg.
A way to recover is to close lid and open it to suspend and unsuspend. Causes screen to turn on.

I ran ubuntu-bug after recovering from screen off issue by suspend unsuspend
