Bug Description

I'm a long time user of Xpad on Ubuntu 18.04 on my laptop, but I just installed 20.10 and Xpad Version 5.4.0-1 and found the normal drag & resize is not available...?

Found your instruction: "Resize"

"Each pad can be resized to the prefered size. [Right-click and hold resizer] – the resizer is on the bottom right."

Like so many laptops now, there's no buttons on the touchpad and all the actions are tap-to-click with a two-finger right-click tap action. There's no way to right-click tap and drag!!

So after using Xpad all these years, I can't use Xpad on my laptop because it's impossible to right-tap and drag...?? The only way to do that is to turn off my usability features, hold the [Ctrl] key and use two hands and three fingers to resize a window -- Why all the gymnastics just to resize or move a window on the screen???

Please, please bring back normal window drag & resize or at least make a preference checkbox for "Normal Drag/Resize" --

There's no better postit app than Xpad and I really need it in my workflow!!

Thank you. :-)

Hi Brian,

I have only laptops which have touchpads with buttons, so I never test for button-less usage.
But of course, I will try to help.

I am wondering if this issue is caused by a newer version of Ubuntu or Xpad.

According to https://repology.org/, Ubuntu 18.04 uses Xpad 5.0
The latest released version is Xpad 5.7

Would you mind to do test both the older and newer versions of Xpad to see if the issue is present ?

On the newer computer, running Ubuntu 21.10 and Gnome 40.4.0 (on Wayland), I apt-installed Xpad 5.4 straight Canonical repo.

Can I install Xpad 5.7 and will it run properly on that machine?

I'm not sure , but it certainly is worth a try.
Maybe there is a newer repo available?
