Bug Description

Binary package hint: kpdf

kpdf does not allow one to view two pages side-by-side *as they would appear in a book*; i.e., with page #1 on the right and from that point onward, with the next even page on the left and the next odd page on the right.

This omission makes it very difficult to check the detailed format of pages that are to be bound into a book.

Thanks for submitting this report.

However, I believe this is not correct. If you use View->Two Pages, I believe your feature request is already implemented.

Therefore, I would like to close this report if you agree.

Thanks

(The switching of side can be achieved by added an empty page at the beginning of the document)

But then it's not the SAME document. (And requires a tool that would insert a page of the right type at the beginning of a PDF.)

(and this makes all kinds of assumptions that the user has sufficient permissions to alter the PDF [perhaps it's signed; perhaps it's on a read-only filesystem; etc., etc., etc.)

So I would much prefer not to close this.

Weirdly, the KPDF project page (such as it is) states that the requested feature exists as of version 0.4. However, I believe that although they called it "facing pages" mode, it's really the "two page" mode.

I would have sent this request to the kpdf team directly (bypassing kubuntu) except that I can't find anywhere to post such a request with any confidence that it would elicit a response from the kpdf developers.

As you can see, this has been added as a feature in Okular (which is the kpdf for kde4) http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152708

The first page can be centred and then the 2nd is on the left hand side, the 3rd on the right hand side.

I believe the report can be closed.

If this can be done in okular then I agree that there's no point in continuing with the request here.

Thanks very much.

Thanks.

As agreed by the reporter, I close this issue since it is resolved in Okular.
