Qgis crashes when file dialog about to be displayed

When attempting to save a layer definition file in Qgis at all times, and at other times frequently but not always when a file dialog needs to be displayed, it will crash just before the dialog should be displayed.

This issue is not seen on Qgis running on 20.04 or flatpak edition on 22.04.

What should be happening: The file dialog appropriate to the operation chosen from the menu e.g. open, save etc should be displayed.

What happened instead: The application crashed between the selection of a file operation and the display of the file dialog.

Crash files available but have not been able to submit or attach them to this report.
