I'm using Ubuntu 22.04 beta.

Thanks for your report. I can't reproduce it, though — possibly you have some hardware problem.
First, can you please make sure you have the latest version of all installed packages:
sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade
Next can you try this command:
sudo apt install --reinstall language-selector-*
and let us know if that fixes it.
