Bug Description
In jammy, the lttng-tools and lttng-ust packages were updated to the 2.13 release while lttng-modules is still at 2.12, while this might work for some use-cases, it is both unsupported and untested upstream.
This is probably because of the ubuntu delta in the lttng-modules package which can be dropped since it's only patches to enable building against newer kernels which are all included in the 2.13 branch.
I maintain the lttng packages in Debian and would really like to see a solid lttng stack in the next ubuntu lts.
As a side-note, the package in testing "2.13.1" supports kernels up to 5.16, the one in unstable "2.13.1" adds support for 5.17 while the current jammy package has ubuntu patches to support 5.14.
The most notable features of this new release are:
- Event-rule matches condition triggers and new actions, allowing internal
actions or external monitoring applications to quickly react when kernel
or user-space instrumentation is hit,
- Notification payload capture, allowing external monitoring applications
to read elements of the instrumentation payload when instrumentation is
hit.
- User space time namespace context.
