Hi,

Not able to see the desktop files and folders directly. Will require to open nautilus to be able to see them.

Thanks for the bug report. Please open the Extensions app and check to see if you have Desktop Icons NG enabled.

Thanks for the bug report. Please open the Extensions app and check to
see if you have Desktop Icons NG enabled. --> Thanks for your response. I have checked Desktop Icons NG seems to be turned on. attaching screenshot.

Thanks. This sounds like a bug in the desktop-icons-ng extension. Please:

1. Reboot.

2. Login.

3. While there are no desktop icons visible, open a Terminal window and run:

   journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

4. Attach the resulting text file here.

Hmm nothing in the log about DING. But also the bug has just appeared for me today! It appears the gjs process for DING is not running at all.

Looks like it only fails in Xorg sessions. If you log into a Wayland session then the icons appear.

Very similar to bug #1963756. As I mentioned there, the bug disappeared when I had upgraded gnome-shell etc. from jammy-proposed.

Toggling the extension seems to be enough to make the icons appear. So yes this is bug 1963756.
