Bug Description

The package tasksel has a few serious bug reports, bug 1779645 and bug 574287, which cause a very bad experience for our users. Additionally, the Foundations team believes that we should not include this package with Ubuntu at all and that it should be added to the sync blacklist.

 $ reverse-depends -r jammy tasksel -a source

Looking at the debian-science source package it produces a science-tasks package for tasksel and a series of science-* metapackages. Removing tasksel from Ubuntu would require us to patch debian-science (at least I didn't look at all the rdeps of tasksel) and remove the science-tasks binary package which seems like a lot of work.
