Hi there
can you reproduce this issue with a new user account?, if your password has weird or special characters, you might want to write in a text editor and then copy to pidgin to ensure the right password is written. I use icq too with pidgin and i haven't any issue like this.

Thanks.

The same problem.
Pidgin cannot connect to icq.
It says "Server closed the connection" at first attempt, and "Incorrect password" at second. The password is simle enougth, and the miranda im (under wine) connected without problems.
I have router as internet firewall/nat, and i can say that icq worked properly all days before.
Version of pidgin is 2.4.1.
Version of pidgin's package: 2.4.1-1ubuntu2.
I also checked pidgin on my laptop, it can't connect to icq too. Msn and Google Talk works.

One more similar problem.
Afther the last update pidgin cannot coonect to icq saying "Server closed the connection" at first and "Incorrect password" at second try.
The password contains latin charachters only (upper and lowercase).
Pidgin version: 2.4.1
Debug log from debug window is attached.

I am experiencing the same problems since today (Ubuntu Hardy). Could it be that the recent updates have anything to do with this?

I can confirm this problem.

Since today i cannot login either. Yesterday this was working fine.

Using Hardy and Pidgin 2.4.1.

This is probably due to changes in the protocol from icq's side. Look here:

http://forums.miranda-im.org/showthread.php?t=18701

They state it is possible to solve this problem by "enabling md5". I don't know where to set this in pidgin, though. Or if this is possible at all.
