Kubuntu DVD installation fails because it reads from wrong dir

Bug Description

The installation of the Kubuntu DVD fails at this step:
- detect and mount cdrom

If I look on the other console, it tries to read files from:

/cdrom/dists//Release
instead of:
/cdrom/dists/hoary/Release or /cdrom/dists/stable/Release or so...

How can it be that the installation works for other people?

Running the dvd with the live option results in the same error.

Ok, in the mean time I found out that the DVD does install Kubuntu (and run the
live version) on a different desktop machine. This means that the DVD only
doesn't work on the, brandless, laptop.
The laptop has 2 drives in it: one dvd player and one cd-rewriter. Is this
perhaps causing problems?

Any suggestions?

Manuel, this bug was nine months ago, and no one has manifested on it, so I suppose it works for other people. I will just close it, ok?

That is ok. I no longer have access to that laptop.
