align_image_stack is doing a poor job

align_image_stack is doing a poor job trying to align a series of "free-hand" shots.
It's not obvious what's wrong.
(The panotools mailinglist at yahoo seems dead)

I haven't tested with the photos, but this does seem like it ought to work.

The Yahoo mailing list is gone, but the hugin-ptx list is active and is a
good place to ask about align_image_stack usage:
