Ubuntu 20.04 freezes on nvidia nvidia-340 -

Just upgraded to Ubuntu 20 from 18. After splash screen cursor blinks and nothing happens. So boot into recovery mode. From what I read on stackoverflow etc this is related to Nvidia driver.

PS Computer does start when I say start in recovery mode.

Deleted nvidia-340

Switched to sudo apt install xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

and it boots no problem.
