Bug Description

Binary package hint: fast-user-switch-applet

Hello,

This computador has 2 user accounts.
I try to use the FUSA (fast-user-switch-applet) to switch to another user name but it gives me a white screen.
It's a big void, empty, white screen without mouse or anything else on it.

I have to switch to a text console (CNTR + ALT + F1) and restart the X with
$ sudo /etc/init/?dm restart # or stop, start
--------
The restricted Nvidia-driver is activated.
Compiz is also activated and works very well.
--------

This FUSA-incident managed also to rearrange icons on the upper toolbar (panel) as shown in the picture. FUSA pushed the system-tray to the left and put itself to the right corner.

The graphic card is:
$ lspci | grep -i vga

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8800 GT (rev a2)

Installed display drivers packages :
$ dpkg -l | grep -i nvidia

ii nvidia-glx-new 169.09+2.6.24.9-8.25 NVIDIA binary XFree86 4.x/X.Org 'new' driver
ii nvidia-kernel-common 20051028+1ubuntu8 NVIDIA binary kernel module common files

More details.

The error occurs when I switch to an already in-logged account. I have 2 accounts "moma" and "test".
It's ok to switch from moma to test (test was not logged in). The error occurs if I switch back to moma.

Actually, the login screen is behind the white surface. So I can login if I 'blindly' enter my password.

I have the same problem, but I DO NOT use Fast User Switch applet at all. I also have two accounts: victor and test, and the difference between them is that one works with Compiz-Fusion, while another uses Metacity.

The above notice about actual login form being behind the white wall is correct. Entering the password blindly worked for me as well.
