crashed shells in all tabs by pasting huge content and closing the tab

By accident I did paste a lot (~80 pages) of content into a terminal tab in Tilix that was not in an editor as I thought. It started to handle all that input and I wanted to abort it.
CTRL+C didn't change anything (as nothing was running, it was all text no commands).
So I closed the tab that was getting all the input.

This got tilix and essentially every VTE terminal stuck.

Also yakuake (using VTE Terminal as well) is stuck.
Opening new tabs or new instances of tilix does not work either, all are stuck.

Using a different terminal like one using gnome-terminal-server still works, so it really seems to be all VTE users that are affected.
