Bug Description

Today Firefox was updated to snap version 701. After that:

* the toolbar settings are lost
* all bookmarks are lost

In my home directory I find:

.mozilla/firefox/iw40rvsn.default-release-1
.mozilla/firefox/yr14p2lb.default
.mozilla/firefox/k2x43jhu.default-release
.mozilla/firefox/53wtq3js.default-release-2

Why would the snap create a new profile?

Best regards

Heinrich

When run for the first time, the snap should import existing profiles from the deb.

Can you share the output of `snap connections firefox`?

Can you also run `rm -rf ~/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla` and then run `snap run firefox` in a terminal and share the output here?

What do mean you by "import existing profile from the deb"? This was an update from snap to snap that failed.

I have deleted the old snap and changed profile.ini to point to my old profile to solve my problem locally.

But you should still check why the snap to snap update fails.

Ah, sorry I had misunderstood your report, and I incorrectly assumed the problem was with the deb->snap transition.

I haven't been notified of other similar issues. Could it be that the update happened while firefox was running, and it somehow made it crash and resulted in a corrupt profile, hence the new profile that was created?

Do you have refresh app awareness¹ enabled?
