Bug Description

I was using Pitivi without any issues and created a video.

Now, opening Pitivi immediately crashes my user session and takes me back to the login screen.

Ubuntu 20.04 with Pitivi from the archive -- hopefully all that is in the attached logs, but let me know if anything else would help.

It seems to also be doing something to my sound. I use a Plantronics headset (bluetooth, but with a dongle so it looks on the system like an analogue in and analogue out). When pitivi crashes and logs me out, my headset no longer works once I log back in. Switching the sound settings to use the headset input/output again and restarting seems to fix it. Just adding this in case it helps narrow down the issue.

I normally use Wayland. I just tested this using Xorg instead and it is working fine. Back to Wayland and it crashes. Back to Xorg and it is fine.

This is an interesting report, and, unfortunately, there may not be a fix done in 20.04 for this as that repository is frozen in time. Additionally, pitivi is sync'd unchanged from Debian, hence no "ubuntu" in the version number, which means this is an upstream bug.

Moreover, this package is an outdated version. The latest release available in later versions of pitivi are in later releases of Ubuntu, i.e. 21.10 which released a couple weeks ago as of this writing. There have been many upstream bug fixes since the version of pitivi in 20.04 was released that are available in 21.10. It *might* solve your problem, but I cannot guarantee that.

Also, Wayland is experimental in Ubuntu 20.04 and is unsupported. The earliest version of Ubuntu with supported Wayland by default is 21.04, so consider upgrading.

Either way, please test with Ubuntu 21.10 (impish) and report back. Unfortunately, I have to mark this as "Won't Fix" for 20.04.
