If this is reproducible, could you please try to run gftp in gdb?

gdb gftp
(gdb) handle SIG33 pass nostop noprint
(gdb) run
# The program will start. Perform any actions necessary to reproduce the hang
Ctrl-C
(gdb) thread apply all bt

This also happens when using other FTP applications such as jftp.

My guess is that this is not a specific gftp problem.

Tried to do "gdb gftp" but the application did not start.

This is a real annoying bug, as I have also experianced it in Dapper Drake 6.06LTS kernel 2.6.15-25. It did the same thing on 2 diffrent computers. One is an Acer ferrari, and another and dual boot windows desktop.

It makes me use windows :(

When the last patch came out, and both systems were updated, we lost large file size FTP functionality.

I attempted to up load multiple 5M binary files, as well as a small HTML page, as well as a test GIF.

On all files larger then 20,480b when the transfer got to 20480b in GFTP, it says transfer stalled, unknown time remaining. FIles smaller then 20K were uneffected.

I also attempted the 5M binaries from a bash script. The script just froze when the ftp transfer was initiated. However, it was functional before the up_date

I tried to recreate this, but gftp is working just fine on my machine. I tried to upload more than 600 small files and it just uploaded fine.

I am using Hardy - Ubuntu 8.04.1 on my system.

Please let me know if this is still an open problem.

Faced same problem with Ubuntu 10.04 and Filezilla and gFTP.
Attempting to download <5mb files stops randomly.
Larger files stops always at their 5-10% :/

Adding gdbs logs.
Stopping the stalled trasfer crashes all the system.
