Bug Description

Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper

copying files from USB disk to the video folder (local disk) cause the process to terminate 50 % of the cases I tried. The copy itself seem to finish OK. It always happened at the end of the copy.

I can repeat this bug any time if you need more info.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug to help make Ubuntu better. Were you simply copying files using the file manager? This crash report appears to have come from Flash. Thanks!

Dear Jacob.

Thank you for your letter.

Yes I was just copying files from a USB HDD to the Video folder on the
local disk. I like UBUNTu very much even that it is new to me.

You are doing a great work, keep on

If you have any other questions I'll be happy to answer.

I am alternating Microsoft and UBUNTU any other day until I'll be able
to stick to UBUNTU. So it might takes me 2 days to respond.

All the best

Amir

When you copy the files to the hard disk, do you get any crash dialogs at all, or does the copy dialog simply disappear? We need the crash report to come from the file manager itself to be able to obtain the proper information.

Does the file eventually copy fine? If not, it is very possible that that portion of your USB drive is corrupted. If you think this may be the case, try copying it onto another computer to see if the problem occurs.

Also, if the files are not private, could you provide the names of them and their file sizes?

Thanks!

Hi.

I am in the process of moving from microsoft to UBUNTU.

In order to accomplish that I am copying files from my old machine to a
kingston 4GB USB disk. Then I connect the USB to this machine and copy
the files.

All the files has been copied fine!
It has nothing to do with my files, They are all fine, among them are my
MP3 files, tons of MPG,AVI,M2V (my video files).

If you'll insist I will give you some, but the problem seem to do
nothing with the files.

The way I deal with it is to select all the files in the USB disk at
once and copy. of corse in 50% of my coping it crash at the end.

it simply disapper and later I am asked if I'd like to send a bug report
wich I did twice.

It happens when I copy small amount of files and up to full 4GB so I
think the number of files or thier size is not relevant to the problem.

hopes this helps

If the files are copied fine, then the copying dialog may just be disappearing because the copy has finished, and the crash reports are unrelated. If you have any more problems with Ubuntu, have a look at http://ubuntuforums.org or https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/, or file a bug if you think it is a software error.

Thanks!

I do not agree. it crashed the window i was looking at the files as
well. If I opened 2 windows (1 to show source 2 to show target ) It
would crash them both
