Bug Description

Having a field for ISBN(s) display in the record summary of a bibliographic record in the angular staff catalog would greatly improve our cataloger's work flow. Opinions?

Given the number of records with multiple ISBNS, I would argue against having it in the record summary.

Elaine has a good point. I would argue against it, also.

We also have some staff that would like to have the total number of holds displayed in the Bib Record Summary, so maybe a better wishlist item would be to have a Bib Record Summary that is configurable based on your workflow, where you have options of the fields that you want to display.

Remember that the record summary is just that -- a summary of bib record and a method to provide some info not available in the MARC views, like record creator, last editor, and dates. I think we should be careful and not make it unwieldy. Having it configurable by user or workstation would be be a good solution.

I think the number of holds would be better in the view holds tab -- counts for total holds, system holds, and branch holds. You can make any tab the default view so if staff needed to see holds, they could have View Holds as default.

It also be good to have the number of items attached (total, system, branch) available in the Item Table and Holdings View tab. So If I am logged in with a Sys 1, branch A workstation, I would see total consortium, total sys 1, and total branch A items attached.

If folks have concern that multiple isbns would take up too much real estate, maybe other display options could be explored. For example, just display the first isbn, and possibly add a pop up to display them all with a hover or click.

I think that would be a good compromise.
