Bug Description

I found different newer versions online (3.3.9 and 3.3.12. I added ppa's and installed these newer versions to no avail.

When Gthumb 3.3.8 is started from the terminal it throws this error when trying to resize a PNG file:
___________________
libpng error: Operation was cancelled

** (gthumb:11428): WARNING **: 13:37:15.385: _cairo_image_surface_create: could not create the surface: invalid value (typically too big) for the size of the input (surface, pattern, etc.)
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

With version 3.3.12 it throws this error when trying to resize a jpg:
__________________________
** (gthumb:25201): WARNING **: 13:43:45.002: _cairo_image_surface_create: could not create the surface: invalid value (typically too big) for the size of the input (surface, pattern, etc.)

** (gthumb:25201): CRITICAL **: 13:43:45.002: _cairo_image_surface_copy_metadata: assertion 'dest != NULL' failed

** (gthumb:25201): CRITICAL **: 13:43:45.002: _cairo_image_surface_get_metadata: assertion 'surface != NULL' failed
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
