Bug Description

I have problems with the installation of myql-server in the root-filesystem of uck.
After the download with apt (synaptic) in uck I get the following error:

E: mysql-server-5.0: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
E: mysql-server: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

The log file shows the following entries:

Setting up mysql-server-5.0 (5.0.45-1ubuntu3.1) ...
 * Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
 * Starting MySQL database server mysqld [fail]
invoke-rc.d: initscript mysql, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing mysql-server-5.0 (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of mysql-server:
 mysql-server depends on mysql-server-5.0; however:
Package mysql-server-5.0 is not configured yet.
dpkg: error processing mysql-server (--configure):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Processing triggers for libc6 ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place
Errors were encountered while processing:
 mysql-server-5.0
 mysql-server

root@ubuntu1:~/tmp/remaster-root/var/log/apt#

I've got the same situation after apt-get update / upgrade to the actual packages.

The installation in an hd-installed ubuntu with the same packages works without any problems.

Have you an idea what is wrong?

Greetings

Frank

Hi,

I'm sorry, it was my fault. After the installation of mysql-server was an error-entry left in the /var/crash/ directory. Because of this the user was notified about an impropper installed mysql-server.

I checked the installation and removed the error-message. Now everything is working fine.

Please set the state to "fixed".

Regards

Frank
