Please use "i915.enable_dpcd_backlight=0" for WA, or use 5.13.0-1012-oem kernel instead.

I will try to fix it in hirsute kernel.

Thanks Aaron,

Customer noted that this didn't help him - but I assume the above only helps in hybrid mode.
Customer is quite grumpy...but David is on PTO and he has the system for reproducing so I'm just trying to manage expectations at the moment. Let me know if there are any other suggestions.

Hi Mark,

The log attached is in hybrid mode.

If Descrite mode, for my experience, this only happen on 470 driver.

Aaron,
I'm not sure if R510 NV driver can fix this or not. Sorry, we cannot find this system panel combination on hand, could you help to check this on your end? Thanks

@Aaron, @David,

It looks BIOS for P15/P17 Gen1 N30ET45W(1.28) is released to LVFS already. R510 NV driver with this BIOS can resolve this issue.

I have a P17 Gen1 and can confirm that after upgrade to BIOS N30ET45W(1.28) backlight control (Fn+F5/Fn+F6) is working again.
tested on several OS versions, Xubuntu 21.10 and 22.04, Ubuntu 21.10, all tests in discrete graphics mode Nvidia with rel. 470 and also with rel. 510
