Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

attached file was from an MS .doc file.
Linux OO opens both doc file and odt file with all the text smashed together.
Windows OO opens both fine. I tried saving as odt on windows, but that didn't help.
I think that OO files should work across platforms.

Definitely a problem on OO 2.3 on Gutsy. Crappy work around: right-click on each text block and choose "default" formatting. Each problematic text box seems to have "block formatting". The boundaries of the text boxes are not respected so all the text is jumbled together. Don't have a windows machine to test.

Appears to still occur on Hardy 2.3.1. I will be uploading 2.4.0 soon, hopefully the bug will be fixed there.

This file seems to still be screwed up on openoffice.org 1:2.4.0~rc2-1ubuntu3 but looking at it under upstream's 2.4.0~rc2 it is MUCH more screwed up looking. I will try to take a look at it under Windows OO 2.4.0 and see how it looks.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney

I'm sorry it took so long for me get back to this bug. Can you attach the original .doc file? The .odt file looks screwed up in both Ubuntu's version, upstream 2.4.1 and 3.0.0 on linux and 2.4.1 on Windows. So it would appear the .odt file is just generally screwed up.

If however OOo has problems reading/converting .doc files then I can forward the original file to upstream for them to correct the bugs.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney
