Bug Description
EHL 202105-29104
BIOS: EHLSFWI1.
CPU: ElkhartLake ULX ID: 0x90661 Stepping: B0
To install Ubuntu you must boot from a USB drive.
Normally, I insert the USB drive (into the USB-C slot if available), hit F2 to enter BIOS, select Boot Manager and then select the USB drive.
With no USB drive inserted, I can enter the BIOS or Boot Manager as expected.
WITH a USB drive inserted, I cannot. The USB-3 ports where the keyboard is plugged in do not get powered on in time.
Secure Boot and Fast Boot are both disabled in the BIOS.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Plug a USB keyboard into an USB-3 slot (nothing else)
2. Power on the system and hit F2 to enter BIOS.
3. Power off the system.
4. Insert a USB drive (either in USB-3 or USB-C slot)
5. Power on the system and hit F2 to enter BIOS.
Expected results:
You should be able to enter BIOS successfully (steps 2 & 5)
Actual results:
Step 5 will fail - the system will use the Ubuntu bootloader.
Workaround:
Boot the system with no USB drive inserted.
Enter BIOS
Insert USB drive
Go to Boot Manager and select the USB drive to boot.
Reproducibility: 100%
