Bug Description

CID: 202105-29105

To install Desktop or Core, I have to boot the system from a USB drive, then use dd to overwrite the system's internal storage.

This worked when I installed Desktop and then Core on the EHL board.

After that, however, I cannot get the system to boot from a USB drive. Either the USB drive does not show up in the boot menu or if it does, it fails (returns you to the boot menu) or goes to GRUB.

Core still boots from the internal storage as normal, but I am now unable to install a new image.

This should be a BIOS issue.

If you boot option (i.e. for internal storage) is deleted manually, will you be able to boot from USB drive?

This also sounds like a behaviour related to "fast boot", if it is present in Intel's BIOS. Will you be able to dig around BIOS options? I can find it on a previous CRB at "Boot maintenance Manager Menu -> Boot Configuration Menu -> Fast Boot", but it can differ from a system to another.

This is also likely a corrupted BIOS due to changes done previous to the TPM settings.

We should try to flash BIOS again. Need FE's help.

Verified on 202105-29104.

Reflashing the BIOS to the latest version no longer has this problem.
