Bug Description

Binary package hint: epiphany

In epiphany 2.20.1, custom javascript right click menus won't work.
Instead, you will get epiphany's constextual menu. This makes a lot of so-called "Web 2.0" applications much less usable.

This problem does not appear in Firefox.

Hi Frank
Could you please provide a link to an example?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

here is an example: http://www.trendskitchens.co.nz/jquery/contextmenu/

Right click on "DEMO Right-click me" box. Works in Firefox. Not in Epiphany.

I also noticed that in Galeon, there is an option called "Allow context menu replacing (or disableing)". If checked, the js right click menu will work, not otherwise. So in epiphany that might be a (really stupid) on purpose feature ?

I don't think this bug is a duplicate of bug #192710.
I can display javascript alert boxes.
Only overrinding the contextual menu is broken.

This issue was/is an epiphany design decision that has been a bug for years. bug 192710 is a recent bug which may be a blocker for this bug, but is otherwise unrelated (and is likely to be fixed way before this one is).

This is a real pain, and keeping me from doing my development work in BungeeConnect. Is there a gconf key that can be used to override? Or a key-combination like Safari on Macs (Cmd-Click)?
