Bug Description

Got this problem when doing a regular "Update/upgrade" from shell

/usr/bin/deb-systemd-invoke: 32 =head1: not found
/usr/bin/deb-systemd-invoke: 39: Syntax error: newline unexpected

Endless loop of these two lines in bash before the crash.

you seem to have some problem with /usr/bin/deb-systemd-invoke, which is a perl script, but it seems to be getting called by /bin/sh. You should try reinstalling init-system-helpers to fix any problem with your script, and/or if you made any changes yourself manually that may be causing the problem.

$ sudo apt --reinstall install init-system-helpers

affects: fprintd (Ubuntu) → init-system-helpers (Ubuntu)

Looks like the reinstall with the system helpers did the trick. The
package now installed and seems to work as intended.

I did some cleaning and I don't have any package problems hanging around
any more. So I would think it is a solved problem now.
