Want line-buffered unix2dos

I need the real unix2dos, the one that is line based:

This is ubuntu (bad):
root@magic:~ # cat | unix2dos
1
2
^D
1
2

This is RH unix2dos-2.2-19:
moremagic:~$ cat | unix2dos
1
1
2
^D
2

I need the second one:
moremagic:~$ unix2dos -V
unix2dos 2.2 (1995.03.31)

unix2dos was split from the sysutils package into the tofrodos package. Do you happen to know where Redhat gets their unix2dos from? Thank you.

about newer RHs, I haven't used RH since then)
