Bug Description

Evergreen 3.7

Since the holdings details and the item attributes are currently part of the same Holdings Editor interface with Show/Hide options I'd like to suggest we consolidate the actions menu options that take you to the editor.

Instead of having Add Call Numbers, Add Call Numbers and Items, Add Items, Edit Call Numbers, Edit Call Numbers and Items, Edit Items I suggest we have just Add Holdings and Edit Holdings.

What do others think?

I do agree that the actions menu needs streamlining -- it is easy to get lost in the lengthy list. However, the save and exit button in the holdings editor needs to be added to the top of the item attributes area and to the holdings details tab for this to be viable.

Currently, the save & exit button is at the bottom of the attribute matrix, necessitating scrolling past what might be a lengthy list of call numbers and barcodes and then the matrix to save. If I choose just add or edit call numbers, the save & exit button is at the top of the call number list. Having the button at the top and bottom when both the holdings and attribute details are displayed is needed.

Also, I was checking hide item attributes and hide holdings details before commenting. When you hide item attributes, the save & exit button is not on the holdings details page as it is when you select add or edit call numbers from the action menu. You have to show item attributes and scroll to the bottom to save if you are creating or editing just call numbers.

I searched for bug reports for the save and exit buttons and did not find one. I will submit one as soon as I can.
