According to https://gitlab.com/cryptsetup/cryptsetup/ the latest stable is even 2.3.6.

It appears v2.4.0 is on rc1
I wonder if we should give it a week and see if it gets released before 8/19.

I think this is reasonable and makes sense - if it's note GAed in a week from now we have still some days left to go with 2.3.6.

I checked again upstream, but the version 2.4.0 is still not released, and I've also sent a note to upstream (2d ago) but didn't got a response.
Hence I think the best option is to go with the latest stable (2.3.6) on short notice ...

I tried to rebuild 2.4.0 and I was having issue while 2.3.6 was building just fine.
Given we are so close to Feature Freeze, I will try to get 2.3.6 through.

Hi Matt, yes, that's fine, since we initially wanted to wait for 2.4.0 only because to minimize the effort for repeating version bumps a bit.
Browsing the release notes it looks to me that the most important fixes (and changes) are in 2.3.5 anyway, so 2.3.6 is reasonable.
