Bug Description

After updating to Ubuntu version 21.04 and thus also updating LibreOffice to 7.1, some PPTX presentations are no longer opened with Impress, but with Draw.

Unfortunately, I can not upload the presentations, because I would violate the privacy and / or copyright rights.

One ppt gets opened in Writer.

According to the Nautilus dialog, the presentation should be opened with Impress. But when I click on Open, Draw or in another case Writer opens.

Opening from within Impress does not make any difference either. I.e. also then the presentation is opened in Draw.

Thank you for your bug report. Trying on a testfile here it does open with impress as expected

Could you try to do
$ gio info <presentation.pptx>

and add the log to the report?

Could be that you changed the default? You can reset the association in the nautilus preferences dialog on a file of the format

Changed in libreoffice (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Incomplete

what's the output of

$ gio mime application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.presentationml.presentation

and did you try to check the default association in nautilus and reset it?

In Nautilus the default association has been set to impress. I tried to change it, and changed it back to impress. But still the presentation is opened in Draw.

As described above. I just preformed the upgrade to Ubuntu 21.04. Before everything worked fine.

so you pick impress and draw opens?!

what is '$ libreoffice --impress' doing on your system?

libreoffice --impress launches Impress. Today I found that the presentation I had sent you produced the same problem on a Windows machine running an older version of LibreOffice (6**). There, too, it was opened with Draw, although "Open with Impress" was also selected in Windows.

It seeems that this problem has been reported before: https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/122653/why-is-it-opening-pptx-in-draw-instead-of-impress/

So I'd like to file a bug upstream with the pptx in question. They need a file that reproduces the issue. Alex, would you be ok with providing me with the pptx and allowing me to post it to an upstream bug report?
